For eight years now, players have been building their own zoos, lovingly caring for animals, and regularly discovering new content. To mark the anniversary of Zoo 2: Animal Park, we’re taking a look back at how this popular zoo simulation has grown, from the very first enclosures to major expansions and entirely new areas to explore.

🏗️ The Beginnings of Zoo 2: Animal Park
When Zoo 2: Animal Park first launched in 2018, everything started with a small, run-down zoo left to you by your Great Aunt Josephine. It was up to you to save the zoo from being paved over for a mall – by building new enclosures, attracting visitors, and expanding the park.
The beginnings were humble. Some of the first animals included rabbits, goats, sheep, pigs, and horses. The first enclosures were also classics, based on habitats such as grasslands, plains, forests, mountains, savannas, jungles, ice, and water. But over time, more and more exotic animals were added – with some regions even introducing wholly new enclosure types.
🐯 New Animals and Regions Bring Life to the Zoo
As Zoo 2: Animal Park continued to evolve, many more animals, regions, and decorations were added. This steadily expanded the zoo and gave players more and more ways to design their park.
Fir Grove was the first new region, allowing players to create a second, forest-themed zoo, complete with new stories and characters.
Another major milestone was the introduction of the Terrarium House. This feature was created to bring very small animals into the game that would otherwise be difficult to see in regular enclosures. The Terrarium House is essentially a zoo within the zoo. Here, small animals take center stage and are displayed about four times larger than in the rest of the zoo so you can observe them more easily.
With the Terrarium House, several new species also entered the game, living in special new habitats such as Leafy Thicket and the Rocky Desert enclosures.

Over the years, more new regions and specialized houses were introduced. The Polar Park gives animals from icy habitats a home, while the Nocturnal House features nocturnal residents that only become active after sunset. The Kujali Park brought African flair to your zoo, adding new animals and landscapes for even more variety.
Some regions even feature mixed-species exhibits, allowing players to create entire ecosystems.
Finally, the Aquarium House introduced a completely new world of animals: the underwater world. Enclosures here take the form of aquariums where different aquatic species can live. Just like in the real world, Zoo 2: Animal Park distinguishes between freshwater and saltwater aquariums, allowing you to keep a wide range of fish and marine animals in your zoo. In a unique twist, aquariums also have a frontal view so you can observe the animals like your visitors do!
✨New Features and Highlights
Alongside new regions, many gameplay features have also been added over time.
The Clubhouse introduced an important social element to Zoo 2: Animal Park, allowing you to found your own club or join an existing one and work together with other players to achieve shared goals.
Over the years, other features were added as well. These include sparkling animals as extremely rare results of breeding, the Season Pass with exclusive rewards, and the Rescue Center for injured animals, where orphaned or injured animals can be nursed back to health before they can either be released back into the wild or moved into your own zoo.
These additions ensure there is always something new to discover in Zoo 2: Animal Park.
